Natalie and I finally saw Star Wars Episode III yesterday.
It was a good film, though its dark storyline, like that of Empire Strikes Back, means that you can't really say with overwhelming joy that you enjoyed it.
Unfortunately the cinema seemed to have some minor sound issues (a few cracks in the audio) and they forgot to turn down the lights.
Without giving anything away, the film very nicely lines things up for Episode IV, the original Star Wars movie.

I didn't think too highly of the film. Yes, it did set it up quite nicely for IV, but I just didn't think the scene where Anakin actually goes to the dark side...I just don't think it works that well. One moment, he says "What have I done?" and next...he is on the side of the Emperor. Hmmm...I just don't think people do it that easily when they question themselves. Then again...it is the movies, right? :)
I'll see you guys in about a month or so. :)
Yes, it could be a bit confusing. But I see it as part of the turmoil going on inside Anakin's head. On the one hand he wishes to see justice and evil defeated, but on the other hand his love for Padme blinds him and he wants to save her even if that means reluctantly becoming a servant of Palpatine. Also, this isn't the start of his path to the darkside. That happened in Episode II when he killed all those Sand People.
Yes, I know that started then...but he still has conflict and he just starts kneeling down saying...Yes, I'll do it! I just don't think he had enough resolve in him, after causing Samuel L Jackson's character's death. But he seems fine for the rest of the film to do all the things...because he is told to. Yay. I must admit...the "NNNOOOOOO!" from Darth at the end...it just seemed funny to me. Darth Vadar just doesn't seem the kind of guy to do that, taking just IV, V and VI as the idea of the character. :)
